Ben & Jerry’s Lawrence store will participate in the company’s 28th annual Free Cone Day on Tuesday by giving away free ice cream.

Ice cream lovers can enjoy a free cup or cone of their favorite flavor from noon to 8 p.m. at Ben & Jerry’s, 818 Mass.

The ice cream shop will collect donations for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County program.

Last year the company’s scoop shops gave away 1 million free scoops worldwide. That’s 125 tons of ice cream.

The company’s new flavors for 2006 are Turtle Soup ice cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl ice cream, American Pie ice cream, Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream, Bananas on the Rum ice cream, Baklava ice cream, Lemonade Sorbet and Jamaican Me Crazy, a chunky pineapple sorbet with a passion fruit swirl.
