KU to scout Tatum this weekend in Texas

Kansas University’s basketball coaches will be closely watching high school senior basketball shooting guard Cameron Tatum at this weekend’s Kingwood Classic in Texas.

Tatum, a 6-foot-5, 190-pounder from Tucker High in Georgia, recently heard from KU’s coaches. There’s always the chance he could be a late signee if the Jayhawks fail to land Darrell Arthur, 6-9, from Dallas.

“Coach (Joe, KU assistant) Dooley and I talked about coming out to Kansas for a visit. That is something that I hope to do, but my father and I need to sit down and talk about that,” said Tatum, rivals.com’s No. 13-ranked shooting guard, who has visited Charlotte, Tennessee and Georgia. He’s also considering Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Miami and Virginia Tech.

He may have to attend prep school a year if he fails to qualify academically.
