Kansas University senior baseball closer Don Czyz was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year midseason watch list Thursday. Czyz, from Overland Park, leads the nation with 13 saves heading into this weekend’s series against Kansas State. He’s 5-0 with a 1.30 earned-run average.

Czyz is one of 30 players named to the watch list. At the end the regular season, the Division I leader in saves and four other relievers will be selected as the award’s finalists. These finalists will be released May 31, just prior to the beginning of NCAA regional play. The winner will be announced June 7.
