Commission to hear update on trafficway route

Lawrence City Commission agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢ Sunflower Broadband Channel 25 ¢ Meeting documents online at www.lawrenceks.org

Bottom line

City commissioners will receive a briefing from staff members about how the commission can submit official comments to the Federal Highway Administration regarding the proposed route for the eastern leg of the South Lawrence Trafficway.

Background

During the commission’s goal-setting session earlier this year, three of the five commissioners agreed that the city should increase its lobbying for a trafficway route south of the Wakarusa River. The current proposal runs along a 32nd Street route, which would put the road through the Baker Wetlands.
