LHS, FSHS easily Class 6A
Lawrence High ranks No. 14 and Free State High No. 18 in enrollment figures released this week by the Kansas State High School Activities Assn. for classification purposes.
With enrollments of 1,288 and 1,240, LHS and Free State easily remain in Class 6A, which encompasses the 32 largest high schools.
Lawrence’s Seabury Academy ranks in the upper half of Class 1A schools with an enrollment of 56.
Meanwhile, Ottawa remains one of the smallest schools in Class 5A with 560. Only three schools in that class have a smaller enrollment.
In 4A, most area schools are in the middle of the pack. Tonganoxie leads with 396, followed by Baldwin 347, De Soto 339, Santa Fe Trail 325, Eudora 296 and Perry-Lecompton 259.
Area schools in 3A are Wellsville (177), Oskaloosa (145) and McLouth (142).
