‘Fed Ex’ bank robber apprehended at border

? A 40-year-old Iranian national has confessed to being the so-called “Fed Ex bandit” who robbed 43 banks in Southern California over two years, taking an estimated $300,000, officials said Tuesday.

Farzad Naroli, also known as Ernest Lozano and Farzad Naroli Farkbaksh, was arrested as he attempted to enter the United States through the pedestrian access at the San Ysidro port of entry Monday.

Thirty of the robberies were in San Diego County, the rest in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The FBI dubbed him the Fed Ex bandit because in early robberies the suspect gave tellers a Federal Express envelope and ordered them to fill it with cash.

Naroli is in county jail in downtown San Diego on $1 million bail. He is set to be arraigned today.
