Veritas volleyball picks up three wins

It may be Veritas Christian’s first year of varsity volleyball, but the squad hasn’t been performing like it in the first meets of the 2005 season.

The Eagles (6-1) picked up three victories in their home quad Monday at the East Lawrence Rec Center.

“They’ve played really well this year,” Veritas coach Kyle Billings said. “We’ve really come together as a team. We play to our strengths, and even when we’re not the best team, we fight and dig for the win.”

Veritas Christian opened with a 25-13, 19-25, 15-9 victory over Independent Christian. The Eagles followed with a 25-21, 27-25 victory over Berean Christian and a 25-14, 25-12 triumph over Olathe Christian.

Kristie Tiegreen led Veritas with 26 kills and 13 aces. Adi Willems added 35 assists and 13 kills, and Becky Woods contributed 11 kills.
