Norwegian heritage fest scheduled for Saturday

The Norwegian Heritage Society will have its fourth annual Nordic Heritage Festival on Saturday at Building 21 of the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

This year’s festival, which starts at 1 p.m., will highlight members of Skjaldborg, a Viking living history group from Omaha, Neb. Members of the group will show Viking costumes, lifestyle and battle techniques. The event also will feature numerous ethnic craft and food demonstrations including Scandinavian folk dance lessons and live music during the afternoon.

These will be followed by a Scandinavian potluck dinner at 5 p.m., a national traditional costume show, and more live music and folk dancing with the Scandinavian Dancers of Kansas City.
