Day of Caring set for Friday

Thirteen Lawrence businesses will take part in United Way’s Fall Day of Caring on Friday.

The event matches businesses and their employees with agencies and groups receiving funds from the United Way of Douglas County.

“This is important because it gives the businesses and their employees a better understanding of where their money is going when they contribute to the United Way,” Day of Caring chairwoman Linda Elwell said.

The workers will be involved in a variety of projects, including framing student art projects at Van Go Mobile Arts, providing yard and building maintenance at the Salvation Army and organizing a storage pantry for Women’s Transitional Care Services.

Area businesses participating include Astaris, Aquila, Capitol Federal Savings, Cardinal Brands, Central National Bank, Charlton Manley, Golf Course Superintendents Assn., Hallmark Cards Inc., Intrust Bank, Pearson Education, JC Penney, Target and University National Bank.
