In conjunction with the exhibition “Lee Friedlander at Work,” artist David Rees will speak on “Laughing at Work” Sept. 29 at the Spencer Museum of Art’s auditorium at Kansas University.

Rees is the creator of satirical comic strips such as “My New Filing Technique Is Unstoppable” and “Get Your War On.” He is a native of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Rees’ 7 p.m. lecture will be followed by a reception and book signing in the museum’s Central Court.

He also will visit “State of the Arts,” KU student radio’s weekly program on local visual arts, at 9 p.m. Sept. 28. The station is KJHK, 90.7 FM.

“Lee Friedlander at Work” runs through Dec. 11 in the Spencer’s Kress Gallery. The photography exhibit showcases life in nine-to-five America from 1979 to 1990.
