Lawrence commuter report

The following construction projects may affect commuter traffic in the region this week:

Interstate 70, from the East Topeka to Lecompton exits, widening project under way.

The bridge carrying U.S. Highway 40 as it crosses over Kansas Highway 10 is being widened to four lanes.

Wellman Road in Jefferson County north of Midland is closed for road construction.

Kansas Highway 32 at Stranger Creek, bridge reduced to one lane for widening with traffic controlled through signals.

Lane closures at 78th and 94th streets at Interstate 70 in Wyandotte County while pavement is rebuilt.

Interstate 635 at Parallel Parkway, all ramps closed for construction. Use exits at U.S. Highway 24 or 38th Street.

Southbound Interstate 635 will be reduced to two lanes between Georgia Avenue and 43rd Street.

Interstate 35 at Southwest Boulevard, traffic restricted to two lanes each direction for construction.

Interstate 35 at 87th Street, ramps closed for construction. Use 75th and 95th Streets to Quivira.

Interstate 35 between Gardner and 75th Street for night construction; expect delays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m..

Portion of County Road 458, south of Lawrence, closed for road improvements

The following projects may affect city traffic this week:

Clinton Parkway and Lake Pointe Drive closed to through traffic from Wakarusa Drive to east of Kansas Highway 10 entrance and exit ramps.

West Sixth Street from Folks Road to Wakarusa Drive, traffic reduced to one lane each direction for road-widening project. Wakarusa Drive, north of Sixth Street, will re-open to traffic sometime this week. Wakarusa Drive south of Sixth Street will be reduced to one lane for a short distance.

Monterey Way, north of Stetson Drive to Peterson Road, as well as Peterson Road west and east of Monterrey Way, will be closed to through traffic for road improvements.

McDonald Drive between Iowa and the toll plaza will undergo lane restrictions for milling and repaving.

Thirteenth and Oregon streets for storm water project.

Almira, between 12th and 13th streets, will have some parking removed for waterline repair.

New Jersey, between 13th and 14th streets, will have some parking removed for waterline repair.

Fifteenth Street from Haskell Avenue to Connecticut Street, closed to through traffic for storm water project.

Concrete repairs at 26th Street and Ryan Court.

Concrete repairs at Bob Billings Parkway and Apple Lane.

Eight street, from Holiday Drive to Crawford Street will be closed to through traffic for storm water improvements.

Concrete repair on 10th Street from Kasold Drive to Randall Road.

Base repairs on Kasold Drive at 24th and 25th; traffic will be restricted to one lane at each repair site.

In addition, the following areas will be undergoing resurfacing or concrete repair this week: Haskell Avenue from 12th to 15th streets and 19th Street from Barker to Haskell avenues will be undergoing finishing work, 27th Terrace from Missouri to Louisiana streets, Bob Billings Parkway Parking at Wakarusa Drive near Monterey Way, El Dorado, Foxfire and Inverness drives, Maverick Lane between 25th Terrace and 27th Street, Crossgate Drive from Clinton Parkway to the cul-de-sac, the length of Greenbriar Drive, Jana Drive from Holiday Drive to Harvard Road, and Tomahawk Drive from Lawrence Avenue to Rockfence Place. Parking will be removed for resurfacing and some occasional lane closures may appear.
