Clarification

A spokesman for Kansas Atty. Gen. Phill Kline said comments he made for a Journal-World article Wednesday about a Kline effort to subpoena individuals’ health records from abortion clinics were not meant to imply the underage patients might help the older men who impregnated them escape criminal prosecution.

Here is a sentence, according to Kline spokesman Whitney Watson, that he says more accurately describes Kline’s thoughts on the matter:

“If underage girls realized authorities were looking at their medical files,” Watson said, “their rapist might learn they were being investigated and flee or take other action.”
