Reid to supplant Woods as Cowboys’ QB

? Bobby Reid will replace Donovan Woods as Oklahoma State’s starting quarterback Saturday against Arkansas State, offensive coordinator Larry Fedora said.

“After looking at the film : Bobby is ready to get a few more reps, so we’re going to make him the starter,” Fedora said Saturday. “He’s getting better and better each week. As he gets more reps, he gets better each day. We’ll see how it goes.”

Reid threw for 52 yards on 4-for-10 passing and also ran for 48 yards on nine carries while splitting time with Woods in Oklahoma State’s 23-3 victory Thursday at Florida Atlantic. Woods completed seven of 12 passes for 46 yards and ran three times for two yards.

Woods had the edge on Reid coming out of fall practice, and coach Mike Gundy announced that he would keep his starting job, although Reid would receive some playing time. After getting only about 25 percent of the snaps in Oklahoma State’s opener against Montana State, Reid got about half against Florida Atlantic.

“He’s made a lot of progress from where we were with him in the spring,” Fedora said. “He’s running the offense. He has control. He knows what’s going on. Things aren’t going 100 miles an hour for him. He’s not forgetting calls, forgetting signals. That’s all part of the process.”

Reid was a highly rated recruit when he came to OSU a semester early to participate in spring drills in 2004, but shoulder surgery eliminated any chance he would play last season.
