A Kansas Department of Transportation survey party will begin work on or about Nov. 1 for the replacement of the U.S. Highway 24 bridge over Mud Creek, about two miles east of the south junction of U.S. Highway 24 and 59.

The survey will begin about 2,000 feet west of the present bridge and end near the Douglas/Leavenworth County line.

The bridge is scheduled to be replaced to accommodate a 44-foot roadway, including 10-foot shoulders.

There is currently no funding appropriated for the construction of the new bridge.

The survey is necessary for the detailed design of the proposed improvement. Survey activity is expected to last about six weeks. When it becomes necessary for crew members to enter private property, they will first obtain permission from the landowner or tenant.
