Mel Gibson donates $1M for Mexican hurricane relief

? Mel Gibson, sporting a long beard and no socks, met with Mexican President Vicente Fox and donated $1 million to help Mexico recover from Hurricane Stan.

Fox’s office said Wednesday that Gibson had asked to meet with Fox because he wanted to help after the hurricane hit the Gulf state of Veracruz, where he is filming the movie “Apocalypto.”

Hurricane Stan and related storms left more than 1,500 people dead or missing in Central America and Mexico. Another storm, Hurricane Wilma, was expected to come close to hitting Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula late this week.

Dialogue in “Apocalypto,” set 500 years ago in Central America, will be spoken in an obscure Mayan dialect, in the same way Gibson used Aramaic and Latin for his religious blockbuster, “The Passion of the Christ.”
