‘Die Fledermaus’ flies into Lied Center

“Die Fledermaus” (translated as “The Bat”) is the hilarious story of one man’s revenge against another who plays a practical joke on him. The resulting comic deception and intrigue in the glamorous setting of a prince’s villa forms the background for some of the most beautiful and challenging music in opera.

Composed by the waltz king, Johann Strauss, “Die Fledermaus” will be performed in German with English supertitles at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lied Center. On its debut U.S. tour, Czech Opera Prague, a theater and concert society that collaborates with outstanding Czech and foreign artists, will perform with a full orchestra and chorus, large ballet ensemble and soloists from the Prague State Opera.

Tickets for this Concert Series event range from $22 to $42 and can be purchased by calling 864-2787 or visiting ticketmaster.com.
