NW Oklahoma throttles Indians

? Haskell Indian Nations University couldn’t get anything going offensively against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday and lost, 57-2, at Ranger Field.

NW Oklahoma, ranked No. 21 nationally and a Central States Football League juggernaut, dominated the Fightin’ Indians, racking up 512 yards of total offense to Haskell’s 170.

There were bright spots for Haskell, however, despite the lopsided score. The Indians (2-5 overall, 0-3 CSFL) returned nine kicks for 156 yards, didn’t fumble and dominated time of possession, 36:08-23:46.

Haskell scored its safety in the fourth quarter when the game was far out of reach, sacking NW Oklahoma running back Matt Hart in the end zone.

Wide receiver Cody Wilson was a bright spot on offense for the Indians, catching seven passes for 66 yards. Sophomore quarterback Jody Franklin completed 15 of 25 passes for 114 yards and one interception.

NW Oklahoma (3-2, 3-0) never has lost a CSFL game.

Haskell’s homecoming will be Saturday, when the Indians will play host to Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 2 p.m. at Haskell Stadium.
