Wildcats seeking another shocker

? Baker University’s football team pulled off a stunner last weekend. Can the Wildcats do it again?

BU ended a nine-game losing streak by dumping Missouri Valley, 45-24, in Marshall, Mo. The Vikings had been ranked No. 17 in the NAIA weekly poll.

Now, the ‘Cats (1-5) will get a crack at the No. 6-ranked NAIA team – MidAmerica Nazarene (4-1). Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. at Liston Stadium.

Baker is led by quarterback Kendall Bradley, a 6-foot-5, 231-pound sophomore from Rogersville, Mo. Bradley has completed 76 of 159 passes and averages 163 yards a game while throwing nine touchdowns.

Junior Brandon Crosby (29 catches, 419 yards, five touchdowns) and senior Ryan Pitts (29 catches, 484 yards, five touchdowns) are Baker’s top receivers.

The Wildcats will be trying to snap a five-game home losing streak. BU’s last victory at Liston Stadium was a 28-7 decision over Avila in last year’s homecoming contest.

MANU’s lone loss was a 23-21 decision to Missouri Valley. Last year, the Pioneers rolled to a 61-28 victory over Baker en route to a 10-3 season and spot in the NAIA quarterfinals.

Baker’s last victory over the Olathe school was a 31-28 decision in 1999.
