Girl Scout Troop 738 organized a Challenge Course Campout Oct. 7-9 at Hidden Valley.

The events were led by Kate Baringer, Isabella Hinojosa, Christina Craig, Simone Hinojosa, Savanana Archer and Desiree Housworth with the help of Jill Baringer, adviser.

Scouts from Troop 609 and Troop 660 participated in seven challenges as team-building experiences. Participants from Troop 609 included Sunny Cavner, Grace Clark, Erica Hernly, Lena Hosking, Casey Hutchins, Maisie Hotvedt, Mikkayla Kunkle, Chelsea Sandy and Kelsey Taylor. Participants from Troop 660 included Allison Burke, Meredith Burke, Grace Daniels and Lara Turner.

¢ Boy Scout Troop 52, chartered to First Methodist Church of Lawrence, Kansas, had its fall Court of Honor on Sept. 27 at the church.

The following boys gained rank advancement: Jaron Brynds, First Class; Cyril Cook, Life; Mitchell Damron, Scout; Andrew Denny, Tenderfoot, Second Class; Denny Tyler, First Class; Kagen Fell, Scout; Brendan Golledge, Star; Alek Joyce, Star; Stephan Kuczera, Second Class, First Class; Eric Long, First Class; Mason McCurdy, Silver Palm; Dominick Reiske, Life; and Wesley Tedlock, Life.

Will Sharp and Peter Tuttle were recognized for having earned their Eagle.

The following Scouts earned merit badges: Tim Barta, Ben Bartels, Chad Boyd, Cameron Hershiser, Logan Hinkle, Nick Joseph, David Long, Brandon Mailand, Doug Rawlings, Henry Reiske, Michael Smith and Tristan Wagner.

Michael Smith, Ben Bartles and Chris Golledge received their BSA Life Guard Award. Paul Bireta, David Long, Henry Reiske, Peter Tuttle, Glen Sharp, Cameron Hershiser, Justin Deaver, Will Sharp, Tristan Wagner and Richard Bireta earned BSA Scuba. Ben Bartles earned the Mile Swim at summer camp. Brandon Mailand earned the 100 Nights Camping, Polar Bear and Heritage Trail Awards. Henry Reiske and Peter Tuttle earned the Pope Pius XII Catholic Religious Medal, and Cyril Cook earned the World Conservation.

Tim Barta, Brendan Golledge, Peter Bray, Dom Reiske, Evan Cloar, Harry Smith, Doug Rawling, Michael Smith, Wesley Tedlock and Nancy Wilson were all inducted into the Order of the Arrow, an honorary Boy Scout Camping society as Ordeal Members. Rowley Tedlock and Nick Joseph became brotherhood members in the Order of the Arrow, and Peter Tuttle received the highest rank in the Order of the Arrow as a vigil member.

Justin Deaver, Mason McCurdy, Will Sharp, Peter Tuttle and Tristan Wagner served on the staff at Camp Theodore Naish Scout Reservation near Bonner Springs. Bill Berkowitz and Jack Berkowitz were on staff for Rotary Camp.

¢ Cub Scout Pack 3077, chartered to the Sunflower Elementary School PTO, had a campout Oct. 7-9 at Camp Bromelsick. Fifty people from the pack attended the weekend campout. The Cubs participated in the following activities: rope making, a compass treasure hunt, marble car races, making neckerchief slides, ladder golf, fishing, stargazing and making foil dinners. Cubs participating were Michael Heschmeyer, Tanner Smith, Taylor Smith, Lukas Mackey, Bradley Nickelson, Jacob DiVilbiss, Martin Ghaffari, Brett Van Blaricum, C.J. Steuver, Matthew Rood, Chase Odgers, Sam Goodwin, Sam Dykes, Tony Cipollaro, Jacob Nuss, Corbin Robinson, Vinnie Barker, Mark Weinberg, Mason Davis and Miller Wolf.

¢ Cub Scout Pack 3059, chartered to First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, will meet from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, 2415 Clinton Parkway. While the pack primarily serves families within the Schwegler and Wakarusa school boundaries, any boy in grades 1-4 can join. The meeting will be the pack’s fall recruiting drive. ¢ Scouts from Douglas County gathered Sept. 16-18 at Spring Creek Park at Old Baldwin City Lake for Pelathe District Webelos Woods.

The theme was “Adventures along the Santa Fe Trail.” The Scouts participated in traditional pioneer skills and Scout craft activities, including knot tying, lashings, wood tool use and safety, rope making, fire building, story telling, candle making, first aid training, horse shoes, tomahawk throwing, choker making, cooking, branding, map and compass use, and trading post.

Hosts were Boy Scout Troops 65, of Baldwin, and 64, of Eudora.

¢ Senior Scouts with Baldwin Boy Scout Troop 65 have formed a Venture patrol within their local unit.

The patrol’s members are Jake Hogsett, Cameron Scruggs, David Garrison Jr. and Kirsten Shuck. The purpose of the Venture patrol is to provide more challenging high adventure experiences for older Scouts. Eligibility is limited to Scouts who have completed serving a term as a senior patrol member.
