A jury trial is under way this week in District Court for a Lawrence man charged with shooting at a group of people in December 2004 at Boardwalk Apartments, 524 Frontier Road.

Randy J. Johnson, 20, is standing trial for attempted murder.

Two people suffered injuries in the Dec. 21 incident, including a 21-year-old Baldwin woman who was hit twice in the leg.

Police said the shooting happened after neighbors had complained about a noisy party in the complex.

People who lived at the complex at the time of the shooting are expected to be witnesses against Johnson. A fire last week destroyed a different building at the complex and killed three people, but prosecutors have said they don’t believe the fire will affect the trial.
