Low-cost mulch will be available to residents
Low-cost mulch will be available to area residents through a sale by the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department this week.
The department will be selling truckloads of mulch for $5 per load on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 1420 E. 11th St. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The mulch is produced from trees and limbs that are cut down throughout the city during the year.
Parks and Recreation leaders said the mulch can be very helpful in establishing new trees, restricting weed growth in flower beds and reducing the amount of water lost through evaporation.
