Students at Langston Hughes School have raised $4,132 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
University National Bank, the school's Lawrence Education Achievement Partner, matched the amount.
A check for $8,264 was presented Friday to the American Red Cross.
"All kinds of things went on," said Kim Jennings, a counselor at Langston Hughes. "Some students did change collections, some donated their birthday money. Some parents matched whatever their kids raised. There were some lemonade stands."
Jennings said University National Bank's offer to match the students' efforts proved to be major source of motivation.
