Washburn holds off Pitt State

? Nathan Alleman missed an extra-point kick in overtime Saturday, and Washburn held on to beat Pittsburg State, 35-34, for its first victory over the Gorillas since 1980.

Washburn (5-1, 3-0 MIAA) took an early 21-0 lead on TD runs of three and 22 yards by Trent Hearn and a 24-yard scoring pass from Jordan Brill to Jake Lebahn.

Pittsburg State (4-2, 3-1) scored on a 26-yard run by Germaine Race, but Washburn answered with Fletcher Terrell’s 83-yard kickoff return for a TD to lead 28-7 at halftime.
