Injury Accidents

¢ A Lawrence woman was injured late Friday in Shawnee County after her car rolled and struck a tree on U.S. Highway 40.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Ruth A. Stone, 52, lost control of a 1995 Mercury Villager when it drifted off the road’s right side and onto the gravel shoulder. She was driving east on U.S. 40 and was just west of the Shawnee-Douglas County line.

The vehicle rolled, hit a tree and came to rest against a second tree. Stone was transported to St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. A hospital official said she was treated and released.

Passenger, Steve I. Regnier, 48, of Baldwin, was not injured.

¢ Four people were transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with minor injuries after a four-car accident Saturday afternoon in the 1400 block of West 23rd Street, said Police Sgt. Paul Fellers.

Just before 3 p.m., in a Buick Regal, Massarat Sardar, of Lawrence, made a right turn out of a private drive onto eastbound 23rd Street, which cut off an eastbound vehicle driven by Seth Nation, of Lawrence.

Nation made an evasive maneuver into the westbound lane and struck a Mercury Sable, driven by Joseph Lubach, of Lawrence. A Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by Crystal Hamer, of Manhattan, was also involved, Fellers said.

Hamer and one passenger, Wilbur Hamer, along with two of Nation’s passengers, Lori and Taylor Nation, were all transported to LMH. A hospital official said all four were treated and released.
