ACLU to sponsor discussion at library
A panel will discuss current Kansas issues concerning the separation of church and state at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lawrence Public Library’s auditorium, 707 Vt.
The Douglas County American Civil Liberties Union is sponsoring the forum. ACLU member Robin Devine will moderate.
Panel members will be Julie Burkhart, executive director of ProKanDo; Bill Wagnon, member of the Kansas State Board of Education; Peter Brownlie, president of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri; and Jana Mackey, director of Kansas National Organization for Women.
Topics will include Atty. Gen. Phill Kline’s medical records request and the proposed opt-in sex education policy before the State Board of Education.
A question-and-answer session will follow the panel discussion, which is a free event.
