Victor, Indians battle past Westminster

? Pat Victor poured in 17 points, powering Haskell Indian Nations University to a 74-69 women’s basketball victory over Westminster College on Tuesday night.

Samantha Pete had 11 points, Lucita Yesslith added 10, and Honey Round Face and Amber Tecumseh each scored eight for the Fightin’ Indians (4-3), who had a season-low 14 turnovers to Westminster’s 28.

Good thing, said Haskell coach Phil Homeratha.

“They outrebounded us 36-27, so how we won, I don’t know, I haven’t figured it out yet,” he said.

Victor shot 8-for-9 from the field, and her late steal and subsequent free throws sealed the Indians’ victory.

“Pat Victor was the big person tonight,” Homeratha said. “And Honey Round Face generally doesn’t get a lot of starting time, but those two really lifted us up.”

Haskell will travel this weekend to the Bacone Thanksgiving Classic in Muskogee, Okla.
