If you’re heading out today to get your Thanksgiving bird and all the fixings, you’ll find partly cloudy skies and temperatures warmer than normal, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We’re heading into the 60s,” Schack said. “Enjoy it because we have a cold front barrelling in . . . Make sure you have the coat handy on Thanksgiving.”

At 8:30 a.m. today, the temperature was 42 degrees, the humidity was 67 percent and winds were from the north-northwest at 8 mph, making the the wind chill 37 degrees.

“We have high clouds this morning. They will thicken up this afternoon,” Schack said.

Today’s high will be 66 degrees, with partly cloudy skies. Winds will be from the west-northwest at 12 to 18 mph, gusting to 20 mph. If you’re traveling across Kansas today, you shouldn’t run into any showers or thundertorms, Schack said.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to a low of 35 degrees by early Thursday morning. The cold front will arrive about 6 a.m. Thursday, keeping temperatures about 5 degrees lower than normal for the holiday, she said.

Thursday’s high will reach only 45 degrees, with partly cloudy skies, she said.

Friday morning’s low will be 20 degrees, with the high reaching 46 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
