Jennifer Attebery, of CornerBank, assists Wakarusa Valley School students who are serving as tellers of the school's Waka Waka Bank. CornerBank was honored in October by Lawrence Education Achievement Partners as the September recipient of the LEAP Shining Star Award for its support of Wakarusa Valley School. The bank helps run a student savings program open to all Wakarusa Valley students. Sixth-grade students rotate employee roles at the Waka Waka Bank as they help students make real bank deposits to their individual accounts.
