Offensive lineman commits to KU

Kansas University’s football team received its 10th known oral commitment for the 2006 season, from John Marshall, an offensive lineman from Mount Vernon, Texas.

Marshall committed to KU on Thursday after considering offers from Iowa State, Houston, Rice, SMU, Army and Navy, according to Jon Kirby at rivals.com.

“He’s one of those kids who is very intelligent and a good kid,” Mount Vernon coach Dicky Meeks told rivals. “But once the whistle blows, he really gets an attitude.”

Marshall stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 275 pounds.

Oral commitments are non-binding until a player signs his letter of intent in February. Marshall is the first offensive lineman among the 10 players to commit to KU so far.
