The University of Kansas Hospital will move its outpatient Cancer Center to its Westwood Campus in the former Sprint headquarters on Shawnee Mission Parkway.

The center’s space will expand from 26,000 square feet at its current location, inside the main entrance of the University of Kansas Hospital, to 42,000 square feet at the new location.

The move includes the Breast Center, with its diagnostic technology, the endoscopic ultrasound to diagnose digestive tract cancers, labs and the private treatment rooms for chemotherapy patients.

Radiation treatments for cancer will continue to be offered on the main campus.

Design work on the new space, which will take up much of the west wing of the Westwood Campus, is currently under way. The space will be ready for patients in 18 to 24 months.

In addition to the cancer program, nearly 300 administrative personnel have already moved into the east section of the building.
