AP Poll largely unchanged

Only four teams in the preseason Top 25 played the first week and went a combined 7-0, so there were very few changes Monday in the Associated Press’ poll.

Wait two weeks. Fifteen ranked teams will compete in four tournaments over the next 11 days, and that should cause plenty of movement.

Duke was again the runaway No. 1, receiving 62 first-place votes – one more than in the preseason poll – and 1,788 points. That was 127 more than Texas, which again was No. 1 on six ballots. Connecticut held third, followed by Michigan State, which dropped to three first-place votes, and Villanova, which again was No. 1 on one ballot.

Oklahoma and Louisville held sixth and seventh, and then came the first of the two changes with Kentucky and Gonzaga swapping the eighth and ninth spots. Arizona again rounded out the Top Ten.

Boston College was 11th, followed by Memphis, Stanford, West Virginia, Alabama, Syracuse, Illinois, UCLA, Wake Forest and Iowa.
