Warm and breezy today

A cool November nip hit Lawrence this morning, as temperatures dipped into the upper 30s just before sunrise. But sunny skies will bring pleasant conditions later today.

“Temperatures will be quickly climbing today,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “We’re heading into the mid-70s.”

At 7:50 a.m., the temperature was 41 degrees, the humidity was 86 percent and winds were from the southeast at 3 mph. The temperature will climb to 70 by noon, Schack said..

Today’s high will be 78 degrees by the late afternoon, with winds from the southwest about 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph, she said.

Overnight, the temperature will drop to a low of 50 degrees, with mostly clear skies and southwest winds 8 to 15 mph.

“Warmer temperatures are headed our way tomorrow,” she said.

Thursday’s high will be 78 degrees, with winds from the south at 15 to 20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph.

Friday will be slightly cooler, with the low starting out at 50 degrees, climbing to a high of 68 degrees by Friday afternoon, she said.
