Jayhawks solid at Central Regionals

? Kansas University’s men’s golf squad shot an opening-round score of 289 Thursday at the NCAA Central Regionals. Twelve teams were unable to finish their rounds because of rain.

“It was tough today, because we had a three-hour rain delay,” KU coach Ross Randall said.

Senior Kevin Ward led the Jayhawks, firing a 68 on the par-70 course. Sophomore Gary Woodland was two behind at 70, sophomore Tyler Docking was at 75, senior Andrew Price shot 76, and junior Luke Trammell carded a 77.

“Kevin played well today,” Randall said. “I hope we can come out tomorrow and play some of our best golf.”

The first round will be completed this morning before the entire field tees off.
