Former Kansas University basketball player Alex Galindo has chosen Florida International University as his transfer destination.
Galindo, a 6-foot-7 freshman guard/forward, from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, will be reunited with FIU head coach Sergio Rouco, who was instrumental in bringing Galindo to the United States.
"He visited there and liked it a lot, better than the others," Galindo's mother, Socorro Rodriguez, said, indicating her son was bound for the Miami, Fla., school.
He chose FIU over some of the schools -- Pitt, Rutgers, Miami -- he considered as a senior at St. Benedict's High in New Jersey.
Galindo averaged 4.3 points in 23 games a year ago. He announced plans to transfer on April 4, citing a desire to play closer to his hometown.
Galindo must sit out next season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules. His scholarship at KU will go to former walk-on, Christian Moody.
Miles chooses agent: KU senior Aaron Miles, who is considered a possible second-round pick in the NBA Draft, has chosen Octagon's Chris Emens as his sports agent.
One of Emens' clients is ex-Jayhawk guard Kirk Hinrich of the Chicago Bulls.
Possible good news for Miles is his hometown Portland TrailBlazers reportedly are in need of a backup point guard.
KU's Wayne Simien, who is represented by Leigh Steinberg, is working out for the TrailBlazers today. Keith Langford is represented by the McNeil Group of Houston.
Recruiting: Tory Jackson, a 5-10 high school senior-to-be from Saginaw, Mich., told rivals.com he will make an unofficial visit to KU's campus in July. His current list consists of Michigan, Florida and KU.
