Chicago Board of Trade

Soybean futures jumped higher Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Grain futures finished mixed.

Wheat for May delivery fell 1 cent to $3.33 1/2 a bushel; May corn fell 1/2 cent to $2.12 1/2 a bushel; May oats rose 17 3/4 cents to $1.77 3/4 a bushel; May soybeans rose 17 cents to $6.41 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures declined on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

April live cattle fell .35 cent to 89.75 cents a pound; April feeder cattle fell .50 cent to $1.064 a pound; April lean hogs fell .57 cent to 68.70 cents a pound; May pork bellies fell 1.45 cent to 96.20 cents a pound.

Compared to last week, early sales of steers and heifers sold 2.00-4.00 higher. Good demand for all weights. The grass is turning green and grazers are anxious to get cattle to turn out. Boxed beef cut outs turned back higher this week and slaughter cattle feedlot operators are expecting more money. The futures have been working higher.
