PEORIA, Ariz. ? Brian Anderson and Jamie Moyer look ready to start the season.

Anderson allowed just two singles in five scoreless innings during Kansas City’s 5-3 victory Wednesday over Seattle. He faced only two batters more than the minimum, lowering his spring earned-run average to 2.08.

“I felt he really threw the ball well, and the same for most of the guys in relief. I thought we got good pitching today,” Royals manager Tony Pena said.

Moyer, scheduled to pitch the season opener for Seattle on Monday against Minnesota, gave up two runs and five hits in five innings. He settled down in the third, holding Kansas City to one hit the rest of the way and retiring his final eight batters.

“I think we are ready to go. Overall, we had a pretty good day. This was a very well-played ballgame,” said Mariners manager Mike Hargrove, ejected in the fourth for arguing with plate umpire Alfonso Marquez.

Notes: Seattle RHP Aaron Sele and RHP Jeff Nelson both are expected to make the team. Both were nonroster invitees to spring training. Sele could have a spot in the rotation. … Mariners RF Ichiro Suzuki singled in three at-bats, extending his club-record spring training hitting streak to 18 games. His average fell to .492, just ahead of the team spring record of .491 set by Edgar Martinez in 1996. … SS Luis Ugueto’s homer put the Royals ahead for good in the eighth. … LF Randy Winn had three of Seattle’s eight hits.
