Law enforcement report

• Someone caused an estimated $200 worth of damage during the weekend to the Japanese Friendship Garden in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street. The vandalism happened late Sunday or early Monday morning. The suspect or suspects broke a bamboo fence, damaged a gazebo and painted graffiti on a park bench, according to a police report.
• Lawrence Police issued 14 citations in one hour Tuesday morning to drivers who stopped on a stretch of railroad tracks near Sixth and Vermont streets. Drivers are required to stop at least 15 feet from the nearest rail, but railroad officials recently have had trouble getting the train through the intersection. Police say the increased enforcement will continue as manpower allows.

Burglaries and thefts reported

• Someone broke a lock and took more than $4,000 in tools and equipment belonging to the city of Lecompton. The theft happened between 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Monday at a storage room at 710 E. Woodson Road in Lecompton, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Items taken included a pressure washer, chain saw and generator.
