Lawrence Police said Thursday that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:

  • 253 calls
  • 28 reports
  • two thefts
  • four noninjury accidents

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 55-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft of a 1980 gold and burgundy Lincoln Continental. The theft happened between March 13 and Tuesday evening in the 900 block of West Sixth Street. The vehicle was valued at $1,000.
  • A 24-year-old Lawrence man reported a burglary and theft occurred between 10 a.m. and 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. Items totaling $1,840 were taken.

  • Trash or rubbish fire, contained, 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, 2201 Harper St.
  • Detector activation, no fire, unintentional, 11:46 a.m. Wednesday, 1251 Wescoe Hall Drive.
  • Heat detector activation due to malfunction, 10:28 a.m. Wednesday, 420 W. 11th St.
