Helen M. Butell, Ottawa

Mrs. Butell died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Eudora Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 5, 1911, near Eudora, the daughter of Joseph and Walburga Eder Schehrer. She grew up and attended school in the Eudora area. She moved to Ottawa in 1968.

Mrs. Butell and her husband established a Grade A dairy farm southwest of Baldwin. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Ottawa.

She married Richard T. Butell on Aug. 4, 1931, in Eudora. He died Dec. 8, 1985.

A son, Bill Butell, also died earlier.

Survivors include a son, James Butell, Lawrence; three grandsons; two great-grandsons; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.

A rosary will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church before the services.
