Services for Steve Jacob, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jacob died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Romania, the son of Steve and Florance Ferancy Jacob. He graduated from Massena (N.Y.) High School and, in 1951, from Kansas University.

Mr. Jacob served in the U.S. Navy for six years during World War II and received the Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Area Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a production manager for Kansas Color Press for 33 years and retired in 1983. He bowled the first sanctioned 300 game in Lawrence. He was a member of Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church, Lawrence Country Club, American Legion, Cedar Hill Gun Club and Clinton Marina Fishing Club.

He married Mary K. Smith on Sept. 25, 1978, in Rudy, Ark. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Mike Jacob and David Swisher, both of Lawrence, and Darryl Swisher, Eudora; a daughter, Dala Zinober, Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters, Veronica LeBarge, Massena, and Margaret Blaise, Horse Heads, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home.
