The Wednesday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club game on March 2 was stratified, used the Howell movement and was directed by Don Brennaman. Bob Anderson and Betty Spalsbury placed first in A and B, followed by Don Brennaman and Mike Lee at second in A. Larry Brock and Jeffrey Nash were third in A and Barbara Hamilton and Bill Hamilton placed second in B.

University Bridge Club announces the winners of its March 5 game. Hosts were Carl and Isabel Schaake, Willie Stoltenberg and Mary Jo Spotts.

Blue winners were: Al Smith, first; Dale Kring, second; Tom Waller, third; Gladys Dight, fourth; and Karmie Galle, fifth.

Pink winners were: Jean Whitaker, first; Cindy Miller, second; Jane Golden, third; Mary Jo Spotts, fourth; and Carol Smith, fifth.

Cosmopolitan International, a nonprofit international civic organization dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes, is celebrating its 87th year of caring and community service today. The club was founded on March 12, 1918, in Kansas City by attorney Patrick Hodgins.

Lawrence River City Cosmopolitan Club, chartered in 1990, is one of 14 clubs that comprise the Mo-Kan Federation, which is located in Missouri and Kansas. The Lawrence club has donated nearly $75,000 to support both local and international diabetes-related projects.
