Eudora ‘boil advisory’ for water consumption lifted

Drinking water in Eudora got a little easier this afternoon when a boil advisory was lifted by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

For more than a day, city residents had been advised to boil water before drinking it.

The KDHE issued the boil advisory late Wednesday afternoon after Eudora city crews made an emergency repair of a city waterline.

When crews shut down the water lines Wednesday some customers saw a drop in water pressure; service to others was completely cut off. The shutdown could make it easier for bacteria to enter the water line and contaminate water, said Eudora City Superintendent Jim Boyer.

The boil advisory was meant to safeguard against that possibility.
