Charles A. Butel, Paola

Mr. Butel died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Louisburg Care Center.

He was born June 6, 1906, in Baldwin, the son of Charles D. and Gertrude Dyer Butel. He moved to Paola and graduated from Maur Hill High School in Atchison. He lived on his farm northwest of Paola until 2001.

Mr. Butel was a dairy farmer for more than 65 years on a his farm. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau and the Register Holstein Breeders Assn.

He married Evelyn Rose Scherman on June 10, 1931, in Paola. She died in 1992.

Survivors include five sons, Kenneth C. and Edward E., both of Wellsville, Paul M., Paola, Francis W., Jefferson City, Mo., and Philip A., Sapulpa, Okla.; two daughters, Charlene M. Rogers, Fremont, Calif., and Annette E. Davis, Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Joseph L. and Anthony J., both of Paola; 30 grandchildren; and more than 40 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday after a rosary is recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Wilson and Son Funeral Home.
