Lawrence should expect to stay dry today although there may be a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon.

“We’re just on the back edge of it, but the thunderstorms should be erupting to the east of us,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “The cold front should make it through our region and thunderstorms will erupt just across the border in Missouri.”

At 8:00 a.m., the city’s temperature was 66, with cloudy skies, a south-southeasterly 8-mph wind and 84 percent humidity.

A line of thunderstorms toward the south has produced some showers southeast of Douglas County this morning but we should expect to see some sunshine with partly cloudy skies by midday, Schack said.

The temperature is expected to climb to 77 by noon and to 83 by 4 p.m., she said.

Tonight, cool and dry air will start to settle in, which will drop the temperature to 58 by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday’s high temperature will be 83 degrees, Schack said.

Temperatures are planned to stay in the mid-80s for the rest of the week, she said.
