Raiders split

? Lawrence’s Raiders won one and lost one Saturday at the rain-delayed Manhattan baseball tournament.

The Raiders fell to Lee’s Summit (Mo.) Post 189, 5-3, in nine innings, but rallied for an 11-5, six-inning rout of Cherry Creek, Colo.

“The first game was a little tough,” Raiders coach Kevin Tucker said. “We struggled with our bats early.

“The second game, we hit the ball better and got some big hits in the middle of the order. And we played errorless defense.”

Brett Lisher had two hits in the first game for Lawrence (5-2 overall, 1-2 in the tournament). Lorenzo Ricketts, Jake Hoover and Brian Heere each had two hits in game two.

The Raiders will play in the third-place game today against a to-be-determined foe.
