Linnen 3rd at NCAAs

? Kansas University senior Amy Linnen capped her college career with a third-place finish in the pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

Linnen’s leap of 14 feet, 11â4 inches matched the heights of the top two finishers, but Washington senior Kate Soma and San Diego State senior Shayla Balentine needed fewer attempts. KU freshman Ekaterina Sultanova tied for seventh with a height of 13-51â4.

Also Saturday, KU senior Jeremy Mims finished fourth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:45.86. And Sheldon Battle placed 11th in the discus at 171-9. Winner Michael Robertson of Stanford threw 202-5.
