Lawrence Police said Thursday that in the past 24 hours they handled:

¢ A 23-year-old Baldwin man was arrested by Baldwin Police and booked into Douglas County Jail Wednesday for the theft of a sheep’s head valued at $9,000. Baldwin Chief Mike McKenna said the man took the sheep’s head from The Lodge, a hotel, in May after drinking at the hotel bar.

“The sheep is pretty rare, and it’s only found in northern Canada in the mountains,” McKenna said. The Baldwin Police recently received information that the man may be in possession of the sheep’s head. McKenna said officers went to the man’s Baldwin apartment and asked the man if he had the head. He said he did, and it was returned to its owner, McKenna said.

Burglaries and thefts

¢ A 50-year-old Lawrence woman reported to police that someone broke into her car and stole several items, including keys, financial cards and a purse. The burglary and theft happened between 5:10 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 2300 block of Yale Road, according to a report.

¢ An employee of Blue Skies Home Builders at 2015 Vt. reported to police Monday a possible theft from the business of an air-conditioning unit, which is believed to have been taken July 22, a report filed with the Lawrence Police Department said. The unit is estimated to be valued $1,000.
