Grain and soybean futures advanced Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery rose 2 1/2 cents to $3.33 a bushel; September corn rose 4 1/2 cents to $2.41 a bushel; September oats rose 1 cent to $1.68 1/2 a bushel; August soybeans rose 10 1/2 cents to $6.84 1/4 a bushel.

Beef futures increased on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, while pork futures finished mixed.

August live cattle rose .22 cent to 79.57 cents a pound; August feeder cattle rose .45 cent to $1.0757 a pound; August lean hogs fell .22 cent to 67.27 cents a pound; August pork bellies rose 1.25 cent to 79.20 cents a pound.

Compared to Wednesday; barrows and gilts sold .50 lower.

Seasonal liberal slaughter but cutouts up .84 cents Wednesday at 72.13. However, live prices have been advancing more rapidly than cutouts and packers expected to cut kills over the weekend.

Pct Lean, 46-50, Weight, 230-280 lbs, Price 47.00-47.50.

Sows: Steady. Boars: Steady.

For the week barrows and gilts sold 2.50 higher from 47.00-47.50. Sows under 550 lbs sold 2.00-3.00 higher from 37.00-38.00; and over 550 lbs traded 3.00- 4.00 higher from 39.00-41.00. Boars were steady at 12.00.

Receipts: This week 1,062, including 362 feeder pigs; Last week, 724; Last year 992.
