Rosen named to Kansas Supreme Court
TOPEKA ? State District Court Judge Eric Rosen will be the new Kansas Supreme Court justice. Rosen, of Topeka, was selected today by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
Other finalists for the job were Douglas County District Judge Robert Fairchild, Lawrence, and Marth Coffman, a Lawrence attorney.
Rosen will replace Robert Gernon, who died in March.
The seven-member Kansas Supreme Court is the highest appellate court in the state and has been at the center of several controversial decisions in recent months, including overturning the state death penalty and ordering lawmakers to increase school funding.
