Rachel McCarthy James has been named an honor student for the 2005 spring semester at Hollins University, Roanoke, Va., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Rachel is the daughter of Susan McCarthy and Bill James, Lawrence. She is a Free State High School graduate.

¢ Lauren Wright, daughter of Craig and Marilyn Wright, was named a Cardinal Scholar Athlete for the spring 2005 semester at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., by earning at least a 3.0 grade-point average. She plays basketball.

¢ The following area students have accepted scholarships to Fort Hays State University for the 2005-2006 academic year: Andrew Avila, Herman Exum and Nic Palmer, Lawrence High School graduates; and Madison Dockter, Nicholas Pearce, Garrett Wiens-Kind and Allison Yoder, Free State High School graduates.

¢ Nicole Pulley, Lawrence, made the dean’s list during the spring semester at Cowley College, Arkansas City, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

¢ Andrew William Schneider, Lawrence, recently graduated cum laude from Illinois State University.

¢ Todd and Jill Koch, Wilmington, Del., announce the birth of their daughter, Satchel Ann Koch, born June 10, 2005, in Wilmington, Del.

¢ Caleb and Jalinda Blanding, Gardner, announce the birth of their son, Elson James Blanding, born June 4, 2005, at Olathe Medical Center.

¢ James and Terri Tullis, Tonganoxie, are the parents of a son, Collin Richard Tullis. Collin was born July 6, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

¢ Cameron Moore, Perry, made the dean’s list at Spring Arbor University, Spring Arbor, Mich., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

¢ William Mockry and Ashley Johnson, both of Lawrence, have accepted memberships in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Mockry will be honored during a ceremony this fall at Willamette University, Salem, Ore. He is the son of Kathy Rose-Mockry and Lynn Mockry, Lawrence.

Johnson will be honored during a fall ceremony at Kansas State University.

¢ Bria Nicole DeSalvo, Lawrence, graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., in May. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in special education.
